So the biking got cancelled. We went for a jog instead… which ended up as a brisk walk much thanks to my shoes which nicely tore up last week’s blisters. But I managed to finish the trail by awkwardly hopping straight-legged like a kangaroo. I now know how important it is to have the right shoes… but ever since the Adidas tore I’ve been too lazy/broke to get a new pair. I prolly will get my ass on it soon though. Trust me when I say that this morning’s shower was AGONY.

That aside, the Kiara trail doesn’t seem as intimidating as it was half a year ago. Eventhough we were walking (ok me hobbling), we finished the whole loop pretty fast. Maybe it’s ’cause we were too busy yakking away…

Photos of the blisters after the jump, bit of a warning- it’s not for the faint hearted heh. Too disgoosting. Read the rest of this entry »

A weekly affair

March 29th, 2008 jmeei

Tmr we’ll come pick u 8am. Ok? We go easy off road.

Amazing how a text can lift up my spirits :) The word ‘easy’ might have lifted it up another notch, heh. Man I think I’m getting suckered into this whole biking thing. I’m now dubbed as ‘little legs’ by the sifu, mainly ’cause my legs are well… short. Too short for the pedals HAHA.

Francis: There’ll be a girl coming
Jm: Oh good! Then I won’t be the only soft one haha
Francis: She’s an RPM coach.
Jm: ……………….

On an unrelated note, I have face rash and it’s so not funny.

Someone special’s 21!

Last night

Last year

You can’t really tell but her feet are actually off the ground! I amaze myself sometimes hur. Hee love you Cyn! :) Sorry for leaving so early last night, it wasn’t the wrong crowd but it was more of the crowd being different if you get what I mean. Hope you had tons of fun though :)

Takao oh

March 27th, 2008 jmeei

It would be nice if I could say that Tat and I go through every single day in utter bliss- staring fondly into each other’s eyes, having amicable talks about anything, walking into the sunset with hands clasped tight…  But that’ll be a lie.

‘Cause we fight. A wee too often than we should, actually. A minor spat can evolve into a full blown screaming match… Stubborn people, we are. Maybe me a little more than him.

But there’s one thing I realised… as loudly as we’ll shout at each other, we’d holler our throats sore until the issue’s all sorted out. There is no such thing as leaving it be in our books. At most- I’ll ask for some ‘alone time’ and he’ll allow me to stew by myself for a bit before giving me a ring later. By then my sulky mood would have been evaporated… and I’ll give in after some mush heh.

So even though we’re this close to beating each other up everyday, one thing’s for certain is that it’s not for the worse :) And I suppose it spices up the relationship yadi yada, but ‘course it’s unwise to pick fights for the fun of it. Hurhur.

Anything la

My rockstar son popped by Singapore two days ago- before he left he asked me what did I want from there, to which I promptly answered, “Anything”.

Award winning rockstar

So the cheeky fella got me ANYTHING.

Jm: So what did you get me?
Alda: I got you Anything!
Jm: Huh???

ANYTHING carbonated drink

Anything has a friend, Whatever. Basically Anything and Whatever are the names of two soft drinks, both which have generic packaging so besides from reading the ingredients list at the side of the can, there’s no way a consumer can determine which flavour drink it is. Anything comes in six flavours- Cola, Cola with Lemon, Apple, Fizz Up, Cloudy Lemon and Root Beer. Read more here or here.

So the next time you’re dining in Singapore, when the waiter asks you for your drink order, say ‘Anything’ or ‘Whatever’. :)

Hazard

March 24th, 2008 jmeei

I reversed into a pole today. A pole that says ‘No Parking’.

*skips past the whole haha-Jm-can’t-drive-jokes part to the… emo part*

After the uh disheartening event, my driving mood (yes I have moods for everything) evaporated. My driving became more slack and jerky, and all in all I really couldn’t wait to turn off the engine and chuck away the keys.

But. I had to drive back home from Bangsar, then to Purple House to collect the bike, then to IKEA to meet up with Cynthia. On the way to Mutiara Damansara…

… I got stuck at a toll booth because my Touch-N-Go baki kurang. MOTHER-

I had to reverse out, and do you know how bad I am in reversing?! If you’re bothering to ask, I can’t maintain a straight line. It was like:-

(Car hits the orange cones used as divider)

The cars behind me probably thought I was MAD. I was really mad. MAD-ANGRY that is. Now the car has an extra ding to top off the pole ding which topped off the earlier ding.

Considering my luck with cars today, I had half a mind to abandon the car and ring for help. Help to reverse my car out of the toll booth then drive it back home?! But I decided to rely on my own self, so I gritted my teeth and somehow managed to zigzag my way out.

And anyway, my phone credit was down to zero- couldn’t call out.

Mtb FRIM

March 23rd, 2008 jmeei

What went through my mind when the alarm beeped at 7am was did I seriously agree to do this. Francis picked me up at 8am sharp (not bad) along with Jeff and Adrian, and after many ‘are we there yet’s, we reached FRIM.

Took me awhile to get into my cycling legs- after some false starts, I was bumping along the rocky terrain :D Was a little unsteady what with my bike being a little too big and heavy for me not to mention the blasted rocks scattered along the trail… but those are just excuses heh. The boys were really encouraging, telling me that I was doing a good job when in fact I was crawling up the slope at a turtle’s pace… I ended up playing it safe and did a lot of pushing especially at muddy uphills and uneven downhills, am a bit disappointed with myself. Wish I sucked it in and forced my way through, come what may any accidents haha. But one consolation was that I made it to the crossroad without any major wipe out yay.

“It’s called Steroid Hill for a reason!” - Francis

Was a wuss and skipped out on Steroid Hill as my tiny legs will definitely NOT survive the 15 minutes straight crazy steep climb. Got lost with Francis while trying to find an alternate route out… bumbled along (and had little crashes here and there) until HALLELUJAH the car park!!! After that it was Bak Kut Teh to replenish lost carbs. Two bowls of rice and lots of fatty pork hee.

Superficial or not, the cuts I obtained were a bitch to deal with in the shower. The bloody stinging OWWW. But my father was proud of my battle wounds! Dad used to be a hardcore biker when he was younger… I now know why I’m such a tomboy haha. Am motivated to google up some mtb tips from blogs, but right now, what I REALLY want to do is zzz. Hullo bed. G’night.

Me looking bossy @ the crossroad
